Terms of Service
Last updated: October 29, 2026
The short version
- Corvo Reader reads game text aloud. You can use it on your own Windows PC.
- The free plan needs no card. Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe, and you can cancel any time.
- Minutes are counted from the text Corvo reads (about 1,000 characters a minute). The free plan has 20 minutes a week; premium minutes are given each week. Both reset every Monday. Extra minutes you buy last 12 months.
- Please don’t copy, resell or take apart the app, or misuse our servers.
- Corvo Reader does not change your games, and it is not made by or linked to any game publisher.
- AI clean-up, summaries and translations can make mistakes. Check anything important.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and DriftWork Studio (“DriftWork Studio”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Corvo Reader app (which used to be called Paradox Reader), your Corvo Reader account, and this website.
By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Corvo Reader. Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect and why.
You must be at least 13 to use Corvo Reader. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you, and must be the one who pays for any plan.
Using the app
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use Corvo Reader on Windows PCs you own or control. This right lasts while you follow these terms.
We own the app, its code, its design, the Corvo character and our brand. Using the app does not give you ownership of any of these.
The audio the app makes is for your own personal use while you play. You may show Corvo Reader reading your game in your streams and videos. Please don't use the voices to pretend to be a real person, or sell recordings of the voices on their own.
Your account
- Give us a real email address that you can check. We use it to sign you in, reset your password and send receipts.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- One account is for one person. Please don't share it.
- You can use your account on up to 3 PCs. Email us if you need to swap one out.
- Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else is using your account.
Plans and billing
The plans
- Free. No card needed. Standard voices for 20 minutes of narration a week, reset every Monday.
- Core ($6.99 a month), Plus ($12.99 a month) and Max ($24.99 a month). Unlimited standard voices, plus 60, 180 or 450 minutes of premium narration a week. Some premium voices use minutes faster (up to 2.5 times); the app shows the rate on each of those voices before you use it.
Minutes are counted from the text Corvo Reader reads (about 1,000 characters a minute), not from how long the app is open. Weekly minutes reset every Monday at midnight UTC and do not carry over to the next week. A premium minute is about 1,000 characters read in a premium voice; some voices use minutes faster, as described above. The details of each plan are on our pricing page.
If you already pay an older price, you keep that price while your subscription stays active.
How billing works
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Paid plans are billed monthly in US dollars, in advance. Your plan renews automatically each month until you cancel.
- We don't add sales tax or VAT to your payment today. If the law requires us to start, we will show the tax at checkout before you pay.
- If a payment fails, we may move your account to the free plan until it is paid.
- We may change prices in the future. We will tell you by email at least 30 days before a new price applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.
Extra minutes
- You can buy extra minutes from inside the app: 25 minutes for every $1, from $5 to $100 at a time.
- Extra minutes are valid for 12 months from the day you buy them. After that, any you haven't used expire.
- On a paid plan they are premium-voice minutes, used after your weekly minutes run out.
- On the free plan they add standard-voice minutes past the weekly 20, counted the same way. They do not unlock premium voices.
- Minutes you have bought stay yours if you cancel your plan, until they expire.
- Extra minutes have no cash value. They can't be moved to another account or swapped for money, except where a refund is given under the next section.
Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel a paid plan any time from your account page (choose “Manage billing and plan”). Your plan stays active until the end of the month you have paid for. After that you move to the free plan.
Refunds are reviewed one by one. To ask for one, reply to your Stripe receipt or email [email protected], and tell us what went wrong.
If we refund a purchase of extra minutes, the unused minutes from that purchase are removed from your account. Minutes already used stay used.
This does not affect any rights you have under the consumer law where you live.
Fair use
Please use Corvo Reader the way it is meant to be used: to read text on your own screen. You agree not to:
- copy, sell, rent or share the app, or your account, with other people;
- reverse engineer, decompile or take apart the app, except where the law allows it;
- get around plan limits, minute counts, device limits or other protections;
- call our servers or voice services from outside the app, or use scripts or bots to send requests;
- use the app to make voice content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, or that pretends to be a real person;
- send us harmful code, or try to break into, overload or disrupt our systems;
- use the app to break the law or anyone else's rights, including the rules of a game you play.
If you break these rules, we may limit, pause or close your account.
Corvo Reader includes open-source software, listed with its licences in the THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt file installed with the app. Where an open-source licence gives you rights over one of those parts (for example to change or replace it, or to reverse engineer the app to debug such a change), that licence applies to that part, and nothing in these terms limits those rights.
Games and other companies
Corvo Reader works by reading what is already on your screen. It does not install mods, change game files or read game memory.
Corvo Reader is an independent product. It is not made by, endorsed by, or linked to Paradox Interactive, Larian Studios, Owlcat Games, TaleWorlds, Ludeon Studios, Bay 12 Games or any other game publisher or developer. Game names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which games the app works with.
Each game has its own rules. You are responsible for following them. Some online games or anti-cheat systems may not like any screen-reading tool. Corvo Reader only reads what is on your screen; it doesn't change game files. We aren't responsible for any action a game or its publisher takes against your game account.
AI features can be wrong
Corvo Reader uses automated tools. Text recognition can misread words. Our AI clean-up, summaries and translations are made by AI models and can be incomplete, inaccurate or just wrong. Voices can mispronounce words.
Please don't rely on the app for anything where a mistake would matter, such as medical, legal, financial or safety information. If something is important, read the original text too.
Availability and changes
The voices, AI features, sign-in and minute tracking need our servers and our partners' services. We work to keep them running, but we can't promise they will always be available or free of bugs.
We improve Corvo Reader over time. We may add, change or remove features, voices or supported partners. If we make a change that takes away a major part of a paid plan, we will tell you first and you can cancel.
Ending your account
You can stop using Corvo Reader at any time. You can delete your account from your account page. Deleting your account cancels any active subscription. The Privacy Policy explains what we keep afterwards and why.
We may pause or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other people or our systems at risk, or that we must close by law. Where it is fair to, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix it first.
The sections on fair use, AI accuracy, disclaimers, liability and law still apply after an account ends.
No promises beyond these terms
We are a small studio and we care about getting this right. But, as far as the law allows, Corvo Reader is provided “as is” and “as available”. We don't make promises about it beyond what is written in these terms. That includes promises that it will suit a particular purpose, work with every game, or never have errors.
Some places don't allow these kinds of limits. If you live in one of them, some of this section may not apply to you.
Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows:
- we are not liable for indirect or unexpected losses, such as lost profits, lost data or lost game progress;
- our total liability to you for any claim about Corvo Reader is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If we have a disagreement, please email us first. Most problems can be sorted out that way.
If we can't sort it out, the state and federal courts in Kansas will handle it, unless the law where you live gives you the right to go to your local courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page. If a change is important, we will also tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Corvo Reader after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
