Game text to speech

Text to speech for Victoria 3

Victoria 3 hides its most important numbers in small text and tooltips inside tooltips. Corvo Reader reads journal entries, events and breakdowns aloud in a natural voice, whatever size they're drawn at.

Tiny text, deep tooltips

A player with low vision on the Steam forums described Victoria 3's text as too small to read even up close, and found that raising the UI scale above 100% hides parts of the interface they need. Others point to font mods and lower resolutions, with mixed results.

The heaviest reading is in journal entries, events, laws, political movements and diplomatic plays, and in the pop and market breakdowns that open as tooltips inside tooltips.

Listen to the breakdown

Press Ctrl+Shift+E and draw a box round any tooltip or panel to hear it. Text size doesn't matter when you're listening.

Save the journal or the event window as a region and it reads with one key.

Summarize long breakdowns

On paid plans, Summarize gives you the short version of a long journal entry or tooltip breakdown, and Translate helps if you play in a second language.

Questions

Victoria 3 and Corvo Reader.

Does Victoria 3 have text to speech?

We haven't found a built-in option that reads events and tooltips aloud. Check the game's settings in case a patch adds one; Corvo Reader works either way.

Can I make the text bigger instead?

There is a UI scale setting, but players report that raising it hides parts of the interface. Corvo Reader reads the text at whatever size it is drawn.

Which display mode does Victoria 3 need?

Borderless or Windowed. In exclusive fullscreen, Windows keeps the game's picture away from other apps, so Corvo Reader can't see the text. Where to look: Settings, Video: a borderless or windowed display mode. Check your game's display settings, as the exact label can change between versions.

Is it free?

Yes. The free plan needs no card: standard neural voices for 20 minutes of narration a week. Paid plans start at $6.99 a month and add weekly premium voice minutes, unlimited standard voices, Summarize and Translate.
